Sonam Kapoor Starrer upcoming film "NEERJA " Based on the Real Story -" on the September 5 1986 Pan Am flight 73 Landed in karachi it had arrived from Mumbai to Frankfurt and onwards to New Yorks City carrying 380 Passengers and Crew members on flight .
Unfortunately the plane was hijacked while it was on tarmac at Jinnah international Airpot Karachi .
This is the story of NEERJA BAHNOT a senior flight attendent of that flight she is 22 year old Lady She was murdered while saving three children from terrorist fire before her 23rd birthday.
After 17 hours, the hijackers opened fire and set off explosives. Bhanot opened the emergency door and helped a number of passengers escape. She could have been the first to jump out when she opened the door but she decided not to and was shot while shielding three children from a hail of bullets. Bhanot was recognised internationally as "the heroine of the hijack" and is the youngest recipient of the Ashok Chakra Award, India's most prestigious gallantry award for bravery during peace time .
